4 Key's To Successful Author Promotions And Book Marketing

Are you fast into promoting and marketing your books. If that is the case, I would imagine that you are following the authors buzz circuit. Blink, I'm sure your wondering what the authors buzz circuit is? Me too, but what it boils down to is all these authors running around from site to site trying to get their name in lights while creating some fame and book buzz.

That's when authors attempt to pump up their book sales by hanging out at authors sites. You know, these cool sites where gazillions of authors register, hang out, interact and try and sell each other their books. Now that's targeted marketing. Imagine McDonalds trying to sell In N Out Hamburgers and french fries.

1st let me encourage you that while it is a lot of fun to hang out with other authors and writers, interact and share information. Authors write books and only make up for a very small tiny percentage of book buyers. In fact it's so tiny that it's not worth mentioning. You must not fall into that trap believing that you will find success selling your books on authors sites. Yes I know you get the cool profile pic, you can uplaod your book cover, create a description, click a few buttons and there you are in lights. Along with a kazillion other authors and books. Impressive.

Don't get me wrong there are a few premire sites out there that as a author you want to get pluged into. However authors that run around from site to site to site registering and interacting at these authors sites will find their inbox and email filled with not book sales, but simply online interactions, which can be fun by the way. However, I believe that what every author is hoping for is book sales. Right?

All authors must find the market that their book falls into and tap into that market and just because some forum, group or site has a room set to the side that your book falls into doesn't mean anything when it comes to sales.

Focus on the following:

1) A Authors site or blog. (This is a must)
2) A sister site or sister blog. (It's nice to have a fulltime salesmen)
3) Promoting and marketing those sites. (Bingo, this is key)
4) Prime networking using targeted marketing. (Marketing 101)

The above 4 things should be your 1st priority for online marketing. You must create your own network that shares you as author, about your book, contact information, additional content of interest and where and how to order your books. Then you must market your site, blog and network.
